The portrait is cut into the stone itself rather than printed on it. Nothing is added to the surface, so there is no layer that can peel, fade or wash away. The image is formed in shades of gray against the dark polish, and it will read the same in eighty years as it does on the day it arrives.

Standing it up
A powder-coated frame is available separately. The plaque slides into it and can be lifted out again — no holes are drilled in the stone. The legs stake into soil, or the frame screws to a wall with the fixings supplied.
